What's In My Makeup Bag, January
Happy Thursday Flowers! I decided late last year that this year I wanted to share with you what I use for skincare and makeup. So today I share with you my first “What’s in My Makeup Bag” post of the year. Every month I will post what’s in my bag, showing you what I use regularly with a few newbies here and there. I’m currently carrying my Kate Spade velvet bag, here’s the new version, perfect for Valentine’s day!
I’ve been a fan and consumer of NARS for over 15 years now, and have grown more and more in love thus explains that I almost always use NARS foundation. I’m currently using the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I like it because it’s lightweight, natural-looking tinted moisturizer that supports skin’s overall condition and provides a translucent veil of sun protection. You should also know that this tinted moisturizer is awesome because it hydrates thirsty skin and reduces the look of discoloration, dark spots after as little as four weeks, as well as the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pores, and other imperfections, while broad spectrum SPF 30 protects skin.
I haven’t been using concealer this month, instead, I’ve worn a translucent powder on top of my NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. Currently, my favorite translucent powder is Ben Nye's Bella Luxury Banana Powder. I heard about it years ago from RuPaul, you know the drag queen! I like it because it subtly color corrects surface redness and pink undertones, as well as neutralizes blue under eye circles. It also illuminates, doesn’t cake, eliminates under eye lines/creases, controls oil and shine, and hides dark under-eye circles, these are just a few reasons why you should give it a try.
There are days that I’m not up to doing a “runway” face of makeup, but there is never a day when I don’t wear mascara. Right now, I’m loving cult favorite (and one of my favorites for about 5 years now), Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. This mascara is voluminous! And I do exactly as instructed, adding three coats to my lashes…one coat to define, a second coat to make my lashes more luscious, curled, and dramatic and a final third coat to achieve the most intense, black, multidimensional lashes possible. It also comes in a waterproof version too.
Before applying my mascara, I use this Loreal Color Riche La Palette Nude 1, it’s the perfect palette for an ombre and nude day look. This palette is also great because it has both matte and shimmer shadows, plus it’s relatively inexpensive at only $19,99! After applying my eyeshadow, I like to add a wing liner in the darkest black possible, for this, I use Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Intense Labradorite. The thin, marker-like felt tip is easy to use, and delivers a dramatic look without skipping or smudging, and lasts all day.
To finish my eyes, I fill in my brows. I’m currently using Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz in Chocolate. I like this retractable pencil because it creates hair-like strokes, especially in those places where my arches may be bare or over-tweezed, and the smudge-proof formula stays put all day, creating natural looking brows.
NARS in Goulue, which is no longer available, but the color Deep Throat is a close second. This blush gives my cheek a natural looking pink hue, the perfect amount of color to brighten my look. This blush is soft, and buildable if you want to go brighter.
For a hint of glow, I almost always wear Becca Shimmering Skin Protector in Opal. It’s no surprise that this highlighter is award-winning, it has an ultra-buttery texture that melts into skin for the ultimate high-impact glow. Plus it never cakes!
The last products in my bag are NYX Lip Liner in Brown. And a new lip gloss I picked up, E.L.F. Lip Plumping Gloss in Mocha Twist. I’m a uge fan of lip gloss, probably more than a lipstick, and what I like about this one is that it gives just enough plump and tingle. Plus the color is the perfect nude. I’m obsessed. Not to mention my lips are left super hydrated and supple with Vitamin E and Coconut Oil.
