How To Be Grateful

We’ve reached the time of the year, where we’re so holiday decor, gift buying, dinner planning, and overall closing the year with a bang. We’re so busy in our day to day that we sometimes forget to slow down and appreciate all that we have. In fact, this is one of the many reasons I keep a grateful journal, it reminds me to slow down and be grateful for all the things in my life, it’s especially helpful when I get in a funk and during the holiday season, when we’re all running around like a woman on her magic carpet trying to make everyone else happy. So how can you be more grateful, you could keep a gratitude journal. Here are a few prompts to get you started:

  • I am grateful, I am physically able to…

  • I am grateful to this family member/friend because…

  • I am grateful for my career because it allows me to…

  • I am grateful I own…

  • I am grateful for… (a person that helped you today)

  • I am grateful for a food you absolutely love… (the taste, texture, etc)

  • I am grateful for my pet…

  • I am grateful for the adventure… (name an adventure you’re thankful for)

Spending 5 minutes a day reflecting on the positive things in our lives allows us to let go of the negative and embrace the positive, as well as grasping a better understanding of our purpose.  I challenge you to purchase a notebook and start a gratitude journal.
