Mantel Style

Once again, the temperatures have dropped, so what better topic today than mantel styling. Let me first start by saying that what's better than a warm fire and a hot cup of cocoa, oh I know, a well-styled mantel.  Mantels can be a bit complex, as often they're the focal point of the living room where we spend most of our time.  Be careful not to have too many accessries, as it may come across as you're trying too hard, not enough and it's a bore.  I find the easiest way to style a mantel is to keep things balanced and simple.  I recommend three simple steps to achieve a fireplace (and mantel) worth cozying up to:

1. Make A Focal Point - Choose one large piece that centers the design, like this mirror or this smoking art piece.

2. Add Containers -  If you follow me on Instagram then you know I like fresh flowers!  But you could just as well leave them empty.  This connect dots vase is my favorite, especially paired with this one

3. Finish with Objects - The final step!  Add as many objects as you like, in fact, the more objects the more eclectic your mantel will look.  If you prefer something a bit more streamlined, add only 1-2 objects.  Also, I love baskets at the base of the fireplace to balance the mantel.
