My Living Room
Nearly two months ago, I shared with you my office, today, I wanted to open my world up to you a bit more...viola! here is my living room. I knew the moment I saw this print, I wanted to decorate my space based on it, specifically the colors. I started with a primary color of gray. And then introduced a lighter gray, black and white. For the accessories, I went with gold and silver. Yes, gold and silver. I'm not sure who said it's not a good idea to mix metals, but they were clearly mistaken. Here's how to make it work!
My Sofa is a Pierce Sofa from High Fashion Home, a local Houston furniture emporium offering eclectic and modern furnishings. I adore the sleekness of this sofa, it's transitional and could work in a variety of spaces. I also adore the nailheads, giving the sofa a traditional touch.
I paired the Pierce with two Tubular Curved Chrome Cantilever Chairs, I purchased on Etsy and had updated with black alligator leather. To lighten up the dark fabric choice and to make more cozy, I added to Mongolian fur pillows from West Elm in a light gray. These pillows are my favorite, love the texture!
For each side of the sofa, I added these pedestal (tulip) tables from West Elm in white. These tables provide a classic silhouette, having them in a white coated metal gives them a modern feel. The dimensions of these tables are perfect for my apartment living space. And because they are only 20' in diameter, it keeps accessories to a minimum. Very clean! On each table, you will find marble pillar lamps with gold base accent. The scale of these lamps are awesome. They are real marble, which makes them heavy but the quality is so good. The veins are a perfect mix of dark and light gray. Over the sofa is a trio of West Elm Sunburst mirrors, that I've had for years. They provide a reflection, making the space seem larger and wider.
The rug, I picked up from Home Goods over two years ago. It's a nice print and mix of all the colors. You can find an inexpensive similar rug here. Also, in the living area are two poufs from CB2 in graphite. I typically use these for resting my feet, but have used them for extra seating when entertaining. Speaking of entertaining, I purchased this white Kallax shelf from Ikea. I immediately turned it on its side, to use it as a entertainment center. On top, is my television and a few plants, inside my bar. I love to entertain, so its important to have a place to store liquor and mixers. I choose to display glassware, like these glass tumblers, similar Martha Stewart cake stands and cocktail books.
